FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

All the important things you need to know before you book! Please read through these entirely before scheduling an appointment.

  • Cosmetic tattooing has been around for decades, but has exploded in popularity in the last few years. It can be done on different areas of the body, and uses a tattoo machine or handheld tool to implant ink in the upper layers of the skin. Results can be very natural or bold depending on the technique and preference of the client.

I’ve been working with brows and doing cosmetic tattooing since 2017, and I’ll be the first to say that things have come a LONG way over the years! Old brow tattooing looked so boxy, dark and unnatural. Here at Nakd Beauty, I specialize in creating super natural brows that look like they belong on your face! I

  • Unfortunately, not everyone is a candidate for cosmetic tattooing. With questions regarding your specific situation, please email nakdbeautyaz@gmail.com

    • Pregnancy / Breastfeeding - Cosmetic tattooing can not be performed on anyone who is actively pregnant or breastfeeding.

    • Botox, Dysport - Any kind of Botox or Dysport must be done at least 14 days before or after your brow appointment. Having it within that timeframe will result in being sent home, I can’t touch you for at least 2 weeks after so please plan accordingly!

    • Medications - Certain medications can disqualify you from getting your brows done. For specific questions, please email Emily at nakdbeautyaz@gmail.com

    • Previous Work - All previous work must be approved by me before scheduling an appointment. I can’t work over a lot of old ink, so be sure to email me photos at nakdbeautyaz@gmail.com before requesting an appointment if you’ve ever had them done before! Failure to be approved in advance will result in being sent home and it will be treated like a cancellation.

  • My speciality is in natural looking brows, but since “natural” means something a little different to everyone, I offer both hair strokes and shading! We will talk about your brows, skin, and goals to figure out which style suits you the best, but it’s good to know in advance what those options are!

    HAIRSTROKES

Nano brows and microblading both create natural looking hair strokes throughout the brow. It doesn’t look like makeup, because it isn’t supposed to! This is perfect for clients that look a super natural, no makeup healed result. Makeup can always be added to them for those days and nights that you want them a bit more “done”, but hair strokes are meant to naturally enhance what you already have! Think “your brows, but better”!

    SHADING

For clients that like their brows a bit more polished, a soft powder brow is a great fit! Instead of creating hair strokes, small “pixels” are implanted with a machine that leaves you with a soft, natural wash of color throughout the entire brow. Shading is super buildable, so it can be saturated more or less depending on how natural or bold a client likes them!

    A BLEND OF BOTH

Most of my clients do a combination of hair strokes and shading to reach their goals! Every brow is different, and even our natural brows side to side are different, so I use a blend of both techniques on most of my clients! Whatever brow you’re working with naturally and whatever your goals are for them, I’m right there with you! We’ll talk about your brows in detail at your appointment and work together to create your best brow!

  • All previous work must be approved by me before scheduling an appointment. I can’t work over a lot of old ink, so be sure to email me photos at nakdbeautyaz@gmail.combefore requesting an appointment if you’ve ever had them done before! Failure to be approved in advance will result in being sent home and it will be treated like a cancellation.

  • Preparing for your appointment is just as important for good healed results as the aftercare. Failure to follow pre-care may result in you being sent home the day of your appointment, so please read the following carefully! You coming prepared to you appointment means better healed results and a better overall experience.

BOTOX - Any Botox or Dysport must be done at least 14 days prior to your appointment.

WAXING - There’s no need to tweeze, wax or thread your brows before your appointment, I’ll clean them up as part of your appointment! I prefer to see how your brows grow naturally, so don’t be afraid to let them grow out a bit before! Please do not have your brows waxed for at least one week before your appointment.

RETINOL - Avoid using any retin-a products in the brow area for 2 weeks leading up to your appointment.

ALCOHOL - Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment to minimize bleeding.

MEDICATIONS - Blood thinning medications such as Ibuprofen and Advil should also be avoided unless prescribed by a doctor.

MAKEUP - You cancome to your appointment with or without makeup on, come however you’re the most comfortable! If you regularly fill in your brows, feel free to bring along the makeup you use to fill them in so I can see!

CLOTHES - Like makeup, I want you to come how you’re comfortable! The studio can get chilly from the AC, so you may want to bring a sweater if you get cold easily. I do have blankets in the studio if you need one!

  • Each client will be provided with the necessary products for healing. We will go over what to expect and all the instructions while you’re in the studio, and I’ll send you home with a printed and texted copy of it as well.

    DAY ONE

Your brows may feel a bit sore in the hours following your appointment (even though most clients feel mild if any discomfort while getting them done!) and you may have some redness and swelling

DAY TWO → DAY THREE (ISH)

Day two will be the boldest and most dramatic your brows will look as they heal. The ink oxidizes in your skin, making it appear darker and bolder than it will heal. This can be the real “trust the process” day since they can be pretty intense, especially if you’re not used to them! Everything will fade, shrink and soften over the next week or two and the result will be much more natural healed.

DAY FOUR → DAY SEVEN (ISH)

Between day 4 and 7 you may notice light scabs forming. They may feel dry and itchy, but avoid scratching or touching the brows as they heal.

DAY SEVEN → DAY TWELVE (ISH)

The scabs will start to flake off, but it should be relatively minimal. Most clients describe it like dandruff! The skin is healing over the pigment in the skin, so the brow may look lighter and more washed out, but will settle into it’s healed color around week 4.

    WEEK FOUR

Your brows will be fully healed between week 4-6. At this point, take a look at your brows and see if there are any adjustments you’d like to make. Do you want them a bit darker? Thicker? Maybe adjust the shape a little? Maybe there are some spots that healed lighter than the rest.  Whatever the case, we’ll address it at your touch up appointment to make sure they’re absolutely perfect!

    AFTERCARE

Cleanse morning and night for 10 days with the provided cleanser.

Apply a thin layer of aftercare balm to the brows twice a day for 10 days

No makeup on brows or near them for 2 weeks

Keep brows dry until flaking is done

No sweating until flaking is done

Avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks

Do not pick, scratch, or touch the brow excessively other than when you wash and apply balm as instructed. We want to scabs to stay on as long as possible!
